Soldier
To be a soldier in Enderlin is to have devoted one’s life to discipline, duty, and the readiness for combat. From the forest training grounds of Kaiserreich Mittemark to the frostbitten encampments of the Kingdom of Hrafngard, and the sun-baked desert citadels of the Emirate of Zaharat AL-Nar, soldiers are forged through repetition, hardship, and loyalty to command. Some are raised for the battlefield from childhood, like the eunuch warriors of Zaharat Al-Nar, while others come of age under the banners of city-states or noble houses, learning that honor and survival often travel hand in hand.
Soldiers serve in many forms: elite city guards in Mittemark, garrisoned legions guarding the trade routes of The most Serene Republic of Portavira, or roaming Goliaths mercenary bands traveling across the continent. Some answer the call of a distant lord, defending borderlands and frontier towns; others march for personal glory, coin, or vengeance. In every case, their lives are measured in drills, campaigns, and the camaraderie of those who stand beside them in the face of danger.
Life as a soldier in Enderlin is rigorous education. Recruits memorize formations, weapon techniques, and signals on the field. They learn strategy, the care of horses and armor, and the delicate balance of obedience and initiative. Many soldiers internalize a code—some tied to law, some to personal honor—that governs not only their combat, but their conduct off the field. Veterans often become tacticians, instructors, or leaders, passing their experience to new generations of fighters.
Yet not all soldiers remain bound to armies or lords. Some strike out as mercenaries, adventurers, or bodyguards, taking their skills to strange lands or treacherous seas. Others seek to retire from war, settling in towns or villages, though the discipline and vigilance of a soldier often never leaves them. For many, being a soldier is more than a career—it is a lens through which to measure courage, loyalty, and the cost of every decision.
To be a soldier in Enderlin is to carry duty in one hand and steel in the other, to stand where others flee, and to understand that strength, discipline, and resolve often shape the fate of nations more than words, wealth, or laws.
