Dwarves
Dwarves are, across the entire species, quite stout and muscular. Taller than Halflings, dwarven culture is far bolder and materialistic than their shorter, friendlier counterparts. Concentrated in the mountain homes of the Appachian Strongholds, the dwarves have created a technologically-advanced society that highly regards precious metals and the study of scientific phenomena. Though Magic logically falls under the purview of science, censuses have shown a significantly lower tendency for the traits of Mages to appear in the dwarven population, and hence most technologies originating from the Strongholds do not make use of mana or magical rituals.
Dwarf soldiers have, since the beginning of time, been regarded as brash, stubborn warriors that make up for their small size and shorter reach with unexpected strength and finely forged battle axes that make bloody work of their enemies. Though the technologies of war have changed, often guided by the blueprints of dwarven engineers, this attitude has remained largely unchallenged. With a love for complex machinery and heavy armor, it is unsurprising that it is the Appachians who pioneered the design of heavy Landships and Airships.
