Landships

A landship is a tracked and armored vehicle designed for high-intensity warfare. Typically mounts some sort of cannon, and at the bare minimum provides protection against small arms fire and shrapnel.
The concept of the landship was invented by engineers within the Appachian Strongholds in 123 AV. It was not until 131 AV, however, that the first examples were built. Landships were quickly adopted by the rest of the developed world. Doctrine for these war machines varied due to geographic and economic constraints, with some early landships serving as bunkers barely able to match an Orc's walking pace while others were simply self-propelled siege engines.
Landships have since replaced horse cavalry as a symbol of maneuver warfare, with the following century demonstrating the importance of mobility and armor-piercing firepower that led to increasingly larger and more powerful landships entering service everywhere from the Vulkan Republic to the Bysian Realms.
