House Madjer
House Madjer is the ruling family of the Bahami city of Freeport and the surrounding island. They have ruled the island since the defeat of the Jakonians and the liberation of Freeport in 963 AF. The original leaders of Madjer gain their origins from the locals who have been influenced heavily by Jakonian culture over their centuries of rule. They are as devout to the Federation as any other mukarribs, but retain sympathy towards the ideas of the mainland.
Public Agenda
The Madjers have pursued a careful political line in the Bahami Federation, choosing to engage in trade with the mainland more than any other mukarribs. They have found immense profits in this endeavor, acting as the sole port of trade where merchants from the mainland can avoid being sold into slavery or forced to pay outrageous protection fees. They have therefore encouraged other mukarribs to raid and pillage, while internationally presenting a front of peace and mediation.
Assets
House Madjer maintains a standing force of around one thousand hardened corsairs and warriors loyal to the mukarrib. They have seen much service in raids and dealing with disputes in the city of Freeport. They act as both a town guard and a military force when required. These warriors are well equipped, as House Madjer spares no expense in paying for the equipment and training they need to match even the most professional of the mainland armies. Madjer's wealth is undeniable, and the House also employs mainland wizards and artificers to assist in the maintenance of old siege equipment and fortifications dating back to the era of Jakonian rule.
