WorldEmber 2023 Pledge: A New Age
After a few years' hiatus from competing in WorldEmber, I've come back to roost. My three-year DnD campaign is wrapping up, and the world's current Age is ending with it. In preparation for the next campaign, I want to more fully flesh out and correct the current Age (including shorting it to half its current length) and then flesh out the history and cultures of the next Age.
For November, I am going to finish the current World Chronicle, including the fleshing out of the current Age (and its necessary retcons, like its length). Then, for WorldEmber, I will begin the next Age.
Assignment #1: The Pledge
For WorldEmber, I will be fleshing out the first two centuries of the next Age of Emaxus: the Age of Ancients. Alongside this, I will be fleshing out how that history has shaped the western and southern areas of Drumis. I do this both out of personal excitement and to lay the foundations for my next TTRPG campaign.Assignment #2: The Mini-Meta
For WorldEmber, my mini-meta is as follows:- I will be worldbuilding roughly ~200 years of world history to tell the tale of a new age, and flesh out two regions of the continent of Drumis, including maps, locales, and nations. This will be specifically towards running a modified Kingmaker campaign in the region for my next campaign.
- The themes will be of change and war. The new age is the Age of Ancients, so there will also be great beasts, ancient entities, and powerful spirits. As far as goals, I want to better emphasize the epics wars that have been fought and the grand civilizations that have been lost in Drumis. I want landmarks that remind everyone of what was lost: a mountain split in two, a titanic sword jutting from the ground, those kinds of things. Key inspirations would be Kingdom: Two Crowns, Exandria, and The Stillness (from The Broken Earth Trilogy).
I love building out a setting for a TTRPG, and 200 years of world history gives you plenty to work with. I hope you have a lot of fun this WorldEmber and have no doubt you'll create something you and your players can enjoy exploring! :)
I sure hope so! I'm excited for it. I hope your WorldEmber goes splendidly, as well!
