The Birth of Yophas Prose in Emaxus | World Anvil
Emaxus is currently undergoing a large entry into a new Age (and a large revision of the current Age). Consider this an active construction zone: things are moving around, getting changed, and the world's being reorganized. Apologies for the inconvenience!

The Birth of Yophas

This prose was composed by a Matriarch of Yamma in the early decades of the Age of Survival, presumably in Yathra Silthame.

Before, there was only fire and chaos. Mortals had been scourged from a world that hated them. Emaxus smouldered, hospitable only to the Titans who thrilled in its doom.   Yamma, First of the Ten, God among Gods, looked upon the world and felt sad. Risen from a mortal man himself, the First swore to raise mortals from the ashes. He washed over Emaxus like a silver dawn pressing back the night.   First, Yamma looked upon the Titans and begged their aid. He sought not their deaths, for he was always a redeemer, yet the Titans were fractitious, vile. Two of the Eight sought Yamma's light: Alindr and Laianath, Order and Death, and so they joined the First and became the Three.   The Three slew the Titans and from their bodies built Yophas. With their forms, he fashioned Emaxus and the moons. With their bones, Yamma built great mountains. With their skin, he drew grass and forests across the world. With their blood, he filled the oceans, lakes, and rivers. With their eyes, Yamma placed the stars in the sky. And with their spirits, he introduced change, for he knew a stagnant world was no world for mortals. On that day, water flowed, wind blew, and the sun rose for the first time.   All that had come before had passed, all that had been was gone, and all that would be began. Yamma looked upon this world and was sad, for there were no mortals to walk it. Yamma knew he could not rule the heavens alone, and so made seven Children. Thus, the Three became the Ten, and Yamma instructed his Children to go forth across Yophas and bring back mortals.   But in Yamma's bringing of light to Yophas, he realized the darkness lurking in the shadows. Yamma's Dawn was so bright, it cast the darkest shadows. Five lurked within the Dark, Lords of Obsidian, hungry and evil. They looked on Yamma's creation and craved its corruption, its devastation. Yet they were not yet fully formed, born as they were of shadow, and so Yamma captured them and imprisoned them.   With the Five imprisoned and the Ten awake, Yamma crafted the first mortals, and they walked Emaxus, and Yamma smiled down on them. He watched his children as the sun in the sky, with Emaxus spinning so he could see all of his children, thus there was Day beneath Yamma's gaze and Night without it.   So Yophas was ordered, and Emaxus repopulated, and the Ten awoken and the Five imprisoned, and so the world was Reshaped.

This is a mythological account of the Creation Myth of most Yophasian societies, the ancient period known as The Reshaping.

Really like this.   I love the idea of making the 'Adventure' a Creation legend.   ----------------------------------------------------------------   Feel free to check out my entrie: Out Of The Dungeon And Through The Forest
