Queen Naivara Myth in Emaxus | World Anvil
Emaxus is currently undergoing a large entry into a new Age (and a large revision of the current Age). Consider this an active construction zone: things are moving around, getting changed, and the world's being reorganized. Apologies for the inconvenience!

Queen Naivara

"I was there. Before Yamma. Before the Reshaping. When Vivrah came. I protected my people then. I protect them now."

Queen Naivara is the archfey who rules over the entirety of the Evercrest Court---the dominant power in Sylthereth. As mysterious as she is eccentric, many believe that Queen Naivara played a crucial part in the Obsidian War, though what that was is unknown. What is known is that she is an impossibly powerful archfey who rules over the Evercrest Court, and has many vassals and puppets who perform her will (or some mischievous form of it) across Yophas. Through this long chain of command, the Queen does, on occasion, take interest in a mortal soul, granting them an infinitesimal portion of her power in exchange for their servitude, though they rarely know it. She delights in granting these gifts at the time when they're needed most, making it seem like a random, fated occurrence which is is no way linked to her.   No one knows what her goal in Emaxus is, if any. It's believed she granted the Ten a great amount of aid during the Reckoning, though in the chaos of the battles, no one can be sure. Perhaps she seeks to staunch the corruption of the Obsidian Lords, in her own, strange way? Who knows.

Appearance

Queen Naivara is an impossibly beautiful, lithe, elf-like humanoid female of grace and power. Her dress is that of life and leaves, flowing out from her form and displaying her beauty in its entirety.    She carries a haughty persona about her, radiating the unfathomable power she holds. If she doesn't rival the gods in power, she acts like she does, as her condescension and playful arrogance somehow beguile and entrance even the most confident or stand-offish patrons.

Guardian and Prisoner

Naivara is the Queen of the Evercrest Court, the faction of fey who hold the majority of Sylthereth's "civilized" regions. Her people control Salthera, which serves as Queen Naivara's home and throne. They are the guardians and stewards of the soul-trees, the mystic trees which serve as the reincarnation kilns for elves across Yophas.    Within Sylthereth, Queen Naivara holds god-like power, and it is this power which maintains the Evercrest's position as the dominant force in Sylthereth, even when other fey factions---or factions from other planes---try to topple them. Thus, Queen Naivara is Sylthereth's greatest defender; however, she is bound to Sylthereth, and indeed, to Salthera itself. Within Salthera, Queen Naivara is indomitable and functionally immortal and invincible. But the further she gets from Salthera, Spring's Bloom, and the soul-trees, the more Naivara's power wanes---and her death waxes. Thus, the Queen is both guardian and prisoner of her home. And, despite her efforts to escape this bondage---and her ability to create exceptionally powerful champions who can leave freely---Naivara has found no reprieve.

Mortal Champions of Queen Naivara

When Queen Naivara takes interest in a mortal, she usually enters their lives in a dramatic fashion. Whether it's a life-or-death moment or a trance-like vision-dream, Naivara likes to spin it as an act of fate and providence. These favored ones receive a boon of power from Naivara, and, whether they wanted---or knew it---or not, they enter into a relationship with her. Sometimes, she plants the seed and leaves, allowing the chosen mortal to grow on their own and use the power as they see fit. Other times, Naivara takes a personal stance in their life, molding them to become an agent of the fey.
