Hamestu-sha Geographic Location in Emaxus | World Anvil
Emaxus is currently undergoing a large entry into a new Age (and a large revision of the current Age). Consider this an active construction zone: things are moving around, getting changed, and the world's being reorganized. Apologies for the inconvenience!

Hamestu-sha (Hah-met-sue sha)

The largest known volcano on Emaxus, Hametsu-sha occupies a legendary and terrifying place in Taesunese history. For the first five centuries of the Age of Extant, it loomed as a great titan of flame and smoke over the large island of Tawarakanai. It was some four miles tall, perpetually belching a titanic pillar of smoke into the sky. In that time, it was heralded as a great monument of Kaedo, and its quieter and louder days were believed to be signs of the Fire within the Forge's joy or displeasure.   Then, in 485 AT, Hametsu-sha rocked all of Emaxus in the worst volcanic eruption of the Age of Extant. Tawarakanai was shattered, becoming the string of smaller islands that exist today, and Hametsu-sha remained, alone. The top quarter of the volcano exploded out and rained down upon land and the sea that was rushing in to bury it, and its southern wall completely collapsed.   Now, Hametsu-sha stands about three miles tall, and the sundered southern wall of the volcano continues to pour lava out onto ever-stretching volcanic fields that continue rising from the sea. The southern wall has slowly reformed from the lava flows, but it is still significantly shorter than the rest of the volcanic slopes.

Ikari no Hasshō-chi

When significant portions of Tawarakanai plummeted away into the sea and great fissures sundered the island into a smaller archipelago, much of the land surrounding Hamtesu-sha was absorbed by the roiling Obsidian Ocean. Now, only a small patch of land surrounds the volcano itself, forming an island referred to as Ikari no Hasshō-chi, or Cradle of Rage.   Though it has dense forest on all of its smaller sides, the southern portion of Ikari no Hasshō-chi is an ever-growing stretch of volcanic fields, as the constant flow of lava from Hametsu-sha raises land from the ocean.

Ecosystem

Hametsu-sha creates an interesting ecosystem on Ikari no Hasshō-chi. Because of the extremely rich soil left by Hametsu-sha's eruptions, a dense and incredibly fertile jungle grows wherever it can on Ikari no Hasshō-chi. This jungle has a diverse biosphere, with some incredibly dangerous flora and fauna (like the chalgras).   Additionally, Hametsu-sha is believed to have one or multiple rifts to Akkerath, Vokatha, or even Epharan. If this is true, then the volcanic crater itself may have unbelievably exotic and dangerous inhabitants.
