The Kingdom of Phesunlay is largely comprised of humans, though
Upper Preschwall and Lower Preschwall are fairly multi-cultural due to their importance as trade hubs and their access to the Borean in general. The Kingdom was established nearly 400 years ago, though it has grown significantly south since then. The King and his court, and the Mage Counsel, rule over Phesunlay and they control the Royal Phen Navy, the
Rutar, and Royal Eyres (courts). Economic and social classes dictate the life of many Phez citizens, but the King is notoriously generous in giving back to his people.
The People of Phesunlay
The people of Phesunlay have tanned skin, bordering on bronze. Many have long black hair, with curly hair being seen as desirable for everyone from the lowest farmer to the King himself. The Kingdom, as a whole, is usually concerned just with internal affairs and pageantry and day-to-day life, but there is an established undercurrent of military might that comes to bear as well. Phesunlay is allied with
Brist, and has an uneasy true with
Konard, but the King views Varenval with more and more mistrust every day, despite Hession's Peace. Phesunlay is accepting of outsiders, even welcoming, but there is a culture of finding specific value in a person and keeping them to that value. The Kingdom either wants a full out declaration of war, or a firm promise of peace for Varenval.
Indigenous Peoples
The
Run'ko'ua, often simply called the Ru, are rumoured to still maintain their own culture and lifestyle, but no one has confirmed their existence since the Bandit Lands were created as part of Hession's Peace. While some Ru used to live in the lands of Phesunlay, they all migrated within the Bandit Lands before it was sealed. Recent reports from
Fréole have included sightings of vessels in the Strait of Aloc that do not belong to Brist or Phesunlay, but many have dismissed these sightings as Xzonic warlords looking for new land to control. The Ru were a private people, and their interactions with the people of Phesunlay were largely limited to ore, wood, and pelt trading. Occasionally, an artifact dealer will claim to possess a magical item from the Ru which possesses strong magical auras, but none have ever been verified.
