ARCHIVE Brist

Caedwig Bristan, also known as The Forests of Brist, is one of the oldest nations, formed shortly after the first 100 years of tree growth after the Great Planting by the Blaenor. This makes the Caedwig over 700 years old, at least, but the Caedwig had informal borders for a very long time as few other civilizations were around to threaten them. The Caedwig is governed by the Bough, the ruling Druids and families of Brist, and a large part of the society functions are the abilities and training of Druids along the Druidic Path. The people of Caedwig are mainly elves, though there are some halflings, half-elves, and humans.

The People of Brist

Bristian nationals are often pale, due to their time in the forest. Sometimes, Bristians are even said to have a pale green tint to their skin, as if they themselves used water and sun for life like the plants do. Hair often goes uncut in Brist until the age of 8, and then it is usually worn with some sort of wooden adornment. Brist views outsiders with cool acceptance, always somewhat wary but nevertheless open to others, at least for a time and only if they don't pry too much. Brist wants other nations to preserve nature, and to respect natural growth, but they also seek knowledge, sometimes at great cost.

Indigenous Peoples

Blaenor (Brist, Konard, and Varenval)
Also known as "The Elders", or "those that came before the trees". The Blaenor were a semi-nomadic people who set up separate falls and spring camps in the grasslands that were said to stretch across Brist, Konard, and parts of Varenval long before those nations were founded. The Blaenor are said to be the ones who planted the forests of Brist and Konard, though why they did so is hardly known outside of Brist or Konard.
Malltod (Brist, Konard, and Varenval)
Also known as "The Blight", or "those that opposed growth". The Malltod were, as the story goes, once part of the Blaenor people, settling throughout the grasslands and moving each spring and fall to follow animals and natural food sources. The Malltod are said to have split from the Blaenor when it was decided that the forests would be planted, as the Malltod believed that such intervention was unnatural. After a brief war between the groups, the Malltod went quiet, but they were plotting together and they finally broke free one day, burning the forests that had been planted in Varenval and settling there permanently.
