Yayvon Road
Purpose / Function
Yayvon Road partially encircles Plume Lake on its western banks. Officially it connects Fangmore Keep to Lakefell, passing through smaller communities such as Quilton's Rise and Aylford in the process. It is mostly used by merchant caravans but sees some regular traffic from individual farmers, loggers from Dunnocksdell if they do not want to use the water routes, or the occasional soul who thinks they will discover a new life for themselves in the mountain range near Mirror Lake.
History
While Quilton's Rise is a fairly new settlement, and the title "Keeper of the Yayvon Road" was bestowed by the Black Throne of Angesh onto the first Jarlon Quilton only forty years ago, Yayvon Road has been an established route of travel since shortly after the founding of Lakefell more than a century ago. Until Inga and Jarlon Quilton retired from the caravan-guarding life, maintenance of the road was a patchwork effort handled -- or, more often, not handled -- by whoever happened to be most inconvenienced by the flooding or the overgrowth or any other difficulty.
