Khefil

Acting in the manner of 'City Watch Captain', the Khefil is considered "First Among Hunters" in a sauri. They are the person responsible for maintaining order within a sauri. It's often mistaken for a profession, however for the Orisnuc it is another position that is selected by lots from the general able-bodied people in the sauri.

The Khefil's primary role is to ensure the locals of the sauri are following the community laws as set down by the Kinship Council that advise the Khan of KaraKorum. Likewise, if the sauri is threatened, its the Khefil's duty to organize a defense with the combat trained members of the sauri. That would be any adult man or woman in sauri as all Orisnuc adults are expected to be trained in how to use weapons for hunting and defense.
