For as long as there have been kings and kingdoms, there have been those who sought independence. Those that sought freedom from that which they deemed oppressive.
In truth, most simply used those excuses to mask their true intentions.
To plunder, to pillage, and to have power over those weaker than they.
Since the taming of the lands, these men and women have taken for themselves the name "Freemen".
And for as long as there have been Freemen oppressing the populous, kingdoms have sought to eradicate them.
One such body to rise from the mire to seek the same goal of eradication of the Freemen is the Honorblade Guild.
Once a powerful governing body from the beginning of the taming age, rendered destroyed from within, the site of the order sat vacant and overrun with bandits and Freemen alike. From the mesa-like formation in the heart of Ellium, such villainy descended on the sounding countryside, with the kingdoms embroiled in their own altercations.
That is until the granddaughter of Freemen Queen Niore, arose and raised a order of her own, at first only a few hundred strong, to strike down Queen Niore and end her reign on the territories.
Such a foe as her destructive and abusive kin demanded a strong base of operations to wage a war against. Marked with the blessing of the Eleutherian Kingdom and the Kingdom of Remidur to take the base for her own, Knight Kaendria besieged the mesa, and after weeks of battle took the stronghold for herself.
After the slaying of Queen Niore, Kaendria and her order sought about creating for themselves a blessed purpose. For the order, they sought those who would seek to atone for their past crimes and wasted lives, both the urchin of society and the discarded youngest born of Elitist Clans and Families.
With backing from Remidur and Eleutheria for dealing with her kin, Kaendria was provided all the resources to revitalize the stronghold and provide the resources needed to train her order in methods of criminal hunting, Cadaver Neutralization, magical disaster neutralization, and Freemen campaigns.
