Teakin

This system of teaching is predominant in the Eagrok Nation and Sunik Nation. Some villages in other nations adopt aspects of this system to their own needs, and the curriculum used by this system is shared freely with everyone within the Elivera Federation.   Councils of delegates sent from all over the Elivera Federation meet twice a year to go over curriculum to update and adjust to the changing needs of the world and its participants. The curriculum will often have several variations to allow for flexibility, access, and adaptability.   Accessibility is the foundation for this system, and adjustments are often made to meet a student's needs.

Structure

Children are entered into the Teakin at age four. The first four years consists of games and musical applications of the subjects taught. Here language and a rudimentary learning of all main subjects areas is stressed.   At age eight, the children are tested for their Abilities and interest areas and their more advanced learning focuses more on the subjects directly related to their Abilities and interest areas. All students are required to have an elementary knowledge of all subjects areas, and so general education in areas not related to a student’s ability is still stressed.   By age eighteen, all students take trials to show their attainment of knowledge and elementary understanding of all subject areas. They are then tested in their Abilities and Interests Areas again to determine what Siteakin they can apply for to master their Abilities and its applications. Generally, students graduate from the education system by age twenty-four.   Students are separated into age groups that encompass two years of age at most. Students are required to undertake one season of learning in a different province or nation -- this stems from an old tradition known as the Qohan Season. Not all students participate, but all can apply and all will be hosted at no cost to them.

Education Levels:

  • Piteakin: Four to twelve years of age.
  • Niteakin: Twelve to Eighteen years of age.
  • Qiteakin: Any season where student may live in a different province or nation. This is done during Piteakin, where the student can apply to spend one season abroad.
  • Siteakin: Eighteen to twenty-four years of age.
  • Qoniteakin: Where a study spends six to twelve seasons abroad during Siteakin in order to supplement their studies.

Types of Siteakin:

  • Isiteakin: Technology and scientific based trades.
  • Asiteakin: Art, theater, and music based trades.
  • Esiteakin: Military and Diplomacy based trades.
  • Usiteakin: Politics and economics based trades.
  • Ositeakin: General education, where there is degrees in nearly everything, but they are not detailed degrees since this is a shorter, faster track to graduation that focuses more on understanding the world and functioning in it at an optimal level. One can obtain more detailed degrees here, but it requires a longer stay, that nearly equals the more detailed siteakin.

History

Education throughout the history of civilizations on Elivera has included various elements of the modern educational system. However, the influence of an individual's Ability would heavily influence what vocations they'd have as adults, so past eras in certain segments of the world often focused more on honing the Abilities of a person than a well-rounded education.   The push for a well-rounded education came during the founding of the Elivera Federation as many of the various world delegates felt that a direct democracy model for cities and provinces required a well-educated populace, so educational efforts were increased.
