Andrew McKim and Sons Shipyard
Structure
Andrew McKim a Master Shipwright and designer.
Assets
The McKim family owns hundreds of hectares of forest land with a huge variety of trees that can be used in various different builds of ships and nearly a dozen lumber mills to process the timbers for various uses. They have also partnered with local farmers to grow hemp, cotton and flax to make their sails and rope.
History
Andrew has long loved the sea and the vessels than are able to travel on them. From the time that he could hold a whittling knife, he has been designing and carving the best and the fastest boats around. It had always been his dream to build real boats. He would go down to the docks and watch all the ships arrive into port, load and unload cargo and people and then set sail again. He would sketch what he saw each day and then, as he grew, would go home to draw a technical copy of each sketch. Making changes and improvements for each. He would take the time to go to the lumber mills and logging trails to see what type of wood was being cut and why. Then go to the lumber mills to see the timbers being cut into various pieces. He would visit the sail makers and learn what they used to make the sails that each ship would use. He then went to the farmers that grew the various materials that would one day become the sails and rigging.
By the time Andrew was 17, he knew more about the ship building process, from the fields and forest to the water, than most shipwrights twice his age.
Military
The McKim's build all of the naval warships used by many different kingdoms. This has made a few Kings and military leaders angry over the years. Any time one side or the other lost a sea battle, the loser would say that their ships were purposely built inferior so that they lost the battle.
