Malawak Ilog (ma-la-Wak ee-log)
Malawak Ilog has been winding its way through the landscape for more generations than any living creature has lived near it. It is most commonly called the "Vein of Life" from all that it gives the surrounding landscape, from it's beginning high in the Bundok sa Puso to the Azeal Ocean almost 7,000 miles away.
Geography
Malawak Ilog begins high in the mountain range of Bundok sa Puso and is feed by thousands of tributaries along its route to the Ocean. Flowing through several Kingdoms and feeding many lakes, marshes, & bogs.
Localized Phenomena
Known only to a few people that have lived along the Malawak, the mud along some areas actually have magical properties. Centuries ago, a powerful mage discovered that if the mud was mixed with the blood of an intelligent life form, it could create a vessel to transfer life itself.
The actual process has been lost to time, but it is said that if someone were to make a copy of themselves, using some of their own blood, when they die their life essence will travel to the vessel and animate into a new
body, no matter how far away the vessel may be from the person when they die.
Fauna & Flora
Fauna
It is the richest tropical forest in the world in terms of biodiversity. There are over 2,000 species of fish currently recorded to live in the Bundok sa Puso basin. In addition to the thousands of species of fish, such as bass, trout, carp and carp, the river supports crabs, algae, and turtles.Mammals
Large herbivores such as deer, sheep, goats, and bison can be found coming to lakes to drink along with primates such as apes and monkeys. These in turn bring the omnivores to the shores as well, such as bears, wolves, and large array of huge cats. Smaller mammals can be seen scurrying from place to place as well, like squirrels, hares, badgers, chipmunks, minx and beavers to name a few.Reptiles
Green anaconda is the heaviest and one of the longest known extant snake species that live along and in the river. The Anaconda is found in shallow waters in the river basin. One of the area's largest species of snake, the anaconda spends most of its time in the water with just its nostrils above the surface. Species of caimans, that are related to alligators and other crocodilians, also inhabit the water as do varieties of turtles.Rare Species
Spread out all up and down the river and throughout most of the tributaries are grottoes, alcoves, gardens and hollows where a breed of fresh water mermaids call home. They mainly try to keep the natural order of the river in balance. They are known only in rumor as few have ever been seen and those that have claimed to have seen one were laughed at because everyone knows that mermaids only live in the depths of the ocean.Natural Resources
The most obvious resource of the Malawak Ilog is it's water. This water is very mineral rich and some have even said that it has potent healthy properties as well. It is also a major source of fish and game. The trees, bamboo and reeds that stretch from it's shore line is a major source of food and shelter for animals and humanoids alike. There are many areas of this river that people have discovered rare minerals and metals.
Andrew McKim built his shipyard along the river many years ago due to its proximity to some of the worlds tallest trees.
Cromwell University Cromwell University was built at the mouth of the river, overlooking the ocean in order to train the Kingdoms Naval Commanders.

That mud with magicial properties sounds so interesting to have. To be able to create safety measures in case of death must be a very wanted power. A shame that the method got lost
Maybe someone can discover a lost text that it may have been written in.....
