The Eladrin Empire

“The Eladrin Empire is regal and impressive. Their architecture is breath-taking and their opulence is both awe and fear inspiring. It’s clear that they put almost the same amount of energy into their civilisation as the amount of energy they put into hating humans”. Erik the Navigator

Structure

The Eladrin Empire’s Monarch is and always has been Eladrin “The Immortal” - De jurely at least. In de facto actuality it is currently lead by Eladrin’s Grandaughter Solana “The Black” who rules the Empire as Lady Protector with an Iron Fist.

Public Agenda

The Eladrin Empire’s borders remain closed to Humans and for the most part other Human Kin as well. Anyone of any lineage other than Fey must obtain a pass and border security is high.

History

The Eladrin Empire was founded the day of the Great Summit, some even claim it may have existed even before then. It’s formation came from the settling of the formation group lead by Eladrin “The Immortal” (Then Iefyr the Bold). This group: The Fey Alliance rejected the Hero and his forces expelling the gods and fought to help their masters keep control, but when they lost the feeling of failure filled the masses with hatred and shame. They turned to their leader who led them to the last place their gods energy remained. There, the Elven god Corellon Larethian is said to have greeted the Elves and offering them the chance to return with him to his plane.   Some of the Tel-quassir returned home with their god (The Eladrin), others like Iefyr stayed and vowed to say and keep their god’s connection to this plane. Iefyr was made King by those who remained. Corellon remained on the plane long enough to see Iefyr crowned. He took the regnal name “Eladrin” in honour of his kin, and closed the portal to The Feywild.   Around the location of the great portal Eladrin build a great fortress which became the Empires capital Illenor. In the millennia to come, the spiralling tower of the citadel would eventually breech the clouds and command the landscape.   The first 200 years of the Empire’s history was a peaceful one. Eladrin led his people in creating a safe environment for them to thrive. They spread their society, Their art, Their culture further and further. Their Empire forging a new, prosperous fey haven in this newly birthed world. More Cities. More Civilization.   One day, a caravan from a new Kingdom arrived at the gates of Illnor. Eladrin allowed these creatures in, there had never been another calling themselves King on Longreech before and curiosity got the better of him. The leader of the caravan entered, hooded, masked and respectful. They bowed to the King and offered him a gift of a robe adorned with a white sun. They claimed it to be a symbol of their divine and that it would be a great honour for the Lord of Eladrin to have it. He asked if they followed Pelor, The sun father - He hadn’t seen this symbolism exactly before but it seemed to be the closest match. They said nay. Eladrin replied eloquently saying “It would be wrong for me, someone ordained by The Creator of Our race himself to wear it, But your gift is most welcome. My daughter Soliyanna shall wear it with pride to honour your divine.” The visitors insisted the now Emperor Eladrin be the one to wear it but he remained staunch in his decision.   Soliyanna stepped forward and donned the robe which began to glow in a beautiful twighlight glow emanating from the white suns. The court were enamoured at the spectacle l. However Eladrin realised the visitors looked nervous. Curious he enquired what was wrong. Before he could get a reply a shrill shriek echoed the throne room. The light turned a vicious sanguine as the screaming continued. Eladrin turned to see his beloved daughter burning in a fire of deepest read. Guards rushed to subdue the visitors who by this time had all drawn weapons. “FOR THE KING-THAT-NEVER-WAS” screamed the visitors one rushing towards the Emperor in an attempt to strike him down. Eladrin drew his blade and dispatched the assassin. Guards began to brawl with the others, Courtiers ran from the throne room, some also returning with weapons, some casting spells and other just fleeing in fear. He rushed to his daughter, her skin visibly melting in front of him. He attempted to remove the cloak - burning his hands in the process. But his attempt was in vain. The power of the cloak pushed the Emperor back with a magical aura throwing him to the ground. Soliyanna crumpled to the ground and the cloak light faded. Silence be-felled the throne room. The din of battle over. Only the Emperors sobs echoing the halls. That day he vowed vengeance and t find this “King-who-never-was” and make them pay for what they did.   From that day forward the Emperor became more and more paranoid. He began to send spy’s and scouts far and wide to find the source of the attack, Building tall walls around his cities - even the Empire. Anyone suspected to have even dealt with those who harmed him and his family were captured, tortured and executed.   No one nation could be linked to the attempted assassination, what was discovered was that the assailants were Humans and that the “King-that-never-was” was the new name for the Hero of old, Eladrin’s old enemy, said to have ascended to divine status. He also learned that to the east of his territory, atop a mountain of twin peaks is where he apparently finally ascended.   Eladrin vowed to conquer the rest of Longreech and destroy the mountain, as well as any memory of the hero - Thus beginning the cycle of death that would be the many wars between the Eladrin and the inhabitants of Reane.   Today, The Empire Remains closed. It’s border with The Reanian Empire is now a network of walls and gates, overlooked by the Dread keep of Noxodranis. Many of the Empires beautiful interior however remains the same, bustling metropolis’ and Enchanted woods. But the true joy and harmony, is replaced with a bitter anger and biting spite for the surrounding world.

Demography and Population

The Eladrin Empire is home to many Fey creatures, not just Elves - but the Elves and Elfkin control the upper echelon of society whilst the others are seen as more... wild.   The location of the Empire is surrounding the location where the vail between the plane of Elendor and the Feywild are at its weakest, so the wilder population tend to eb and flow as they (willingly or not) flow between to two planes.   The Elfkin however build large spread out centres of population, The different types preferring to build their own cities rather than integrate fully. Only in the capital will you find every Elfkin together.

Territories

The Eladrin Empire control almost the entire Western side of Longreech. At one stage they had most of the Reane under their control too but that is no longer the case.

Religion

Religious worship within the Empire is unusual. Officially the Gods of the Empire is Corellon Larethian’s Seldarine but due to the large amount of fey, there is also worship of The Seelie and Unseelie courts.

Foreign Relations

The Eladrin Empire maintain a strict border and humans are completely banned from entering The Empire. As such their Foreign Policy mimics that. They are either openly hostile or unfriendly towards all of the human nations of the world.   They do however maintain moderate relations with the Orc and Goblinoid traders from Korzak who act as a middle man for them and the wider world - even despite the god of Elves decreeing that they should slay Orcs wherever they are found in the days before the summit. A very, enemy of my enemy approach is taken.
