The Grand Duke/Dutchess title has always been one of many different trials and tribulations.
While many view holding this title as a true honour to lead the people of Banumdum, very few ever get to hold it. While the title is for life, many relinquish it in their later years to enjoy the natural world around them.
Its power is on par with that of a The Triumvirate member or a The Kingdoms of Nardethel King
