Maiser

Maiser is one of the 11 holdings in the Eastern Erdantia area.

Geography

Maiser sits at the easternmost tip of the Kingdom of Erdantia’s reaches. It is surrounded by land on three sides. To the west, Renn. To the north, Osteen. To the east, Aven.

Politics

Leadership and history

Maiser is the only holding in Erdantia run by an elven lord, Elves being uncommon in Erdantia. The lord’s name is Connor Elenar. Maiser was split off from Osteen after Connor, then an Avenic general, saved the life of King Ulric Tyler. King Tyler, who already considered Osteen to be too large and wanted to balance the sizes of the holdings in the area, rewarded Connor with half of Osteen.

Relations

Maiser keeps very strong ties with Aven due to the lord’s ancestry. Maiser is home to Erdantia's Avenic embassy, and Avenic citizens are permitted to live in Maiser at any time (although they are barred from owning large amounts of land, joining the guard, becoming an official, and being part of a guild, along with other restrictions).
Within Erdantia, Maiser has some very mixed relations. As do most holdings, it holds Renn in quite high esteem, and Renn returns the favour. It is at tension with Osteen, due to Godwin Clarke, the lord of Osteen, being anti-elven.

Maiser’s policy of free movement between it and Aven has led to a large Avenic population living in it. It currently stands at:

Natural Resources

The soil in Maiser and Osteen has a high acidity and sand content, making it ideal for growing hops. As such, the two holdings are quite well known for their high quality beer, which is exported across the Peninsula of Erdantia.

Ulric and Connor

Ulric Tyler, the King of Erdantia, and Connor Elenar, General of Aven’s army, had been friends long before Connor became a lord. The two met at a strategic meeting in the early stages of the War of Eserae. Ulric instantly fell in love with Connor’s wit and intelligence, and they drank together after the meeting. They soon became close friends. A month later, they fought together in the Battle of Yelma. Ulric ended up pinned in the basement of Yelma's keep. Connor quickly formed a small group of soldiers and stormed the keep, rescuing Ulric. Ulric rewarded him with Maiser.
