Aftael's Spear has two main advantages over a conventional weapon:

1. Ability to be created from any metal object, allowing to remain protected even when required to be unarmed, either by law to so as not to appear inconspicuous.
2. Spear can be resized for unparalleled versatility and use at various ranges.

These two place the spear above ordinary weapons significantly. His experience as a metal mage allows him to form knives, bracers, and light armour from metal, although he typically keeps to his spear. He keeps the metal required to create the spear as four ingots hanging from his torso, a hole through each with rope threaded through them. He may carry more or less depending on situation.

Personal history

Afrael Ordinata was born in Sesilen, the capital of Eseris on the 35^th of the Month of Ersola, 1569. He was born to two Supradian monks. He was a favourite around the monastery owing to his hard-working and earnest attitude. After reaching adulthood, he originally aspired to become a priest within the Supradian Temple of Ersola, but was caught up in the War of Eserae, in which both of his parents, as well as most of the monastic community of Sesilen, were killed at the Battle of Sesilen. After finding out that his parents were killed by falling rocks as a result of the carnage caused by Jay Spinner's assault, he vowed to destroy him. He went to the east coast of Eseris to learn combat magic. Of all the forms available to him, metal magic was the most enticing. He took to wielding a long, needle thin spear, which he could fashion and destroy at will. He took roughly three months to track Jay down, taking up jobs with various mercenary groups along Erdantia, including Brooker's Angels. He eventually reached Jay's treetop home of Staema Alera, but when he arrived he was instantly overpowed by fellow resident Exe Darwin. Exe was reluctant to allow Afrael an audience with Jay, but eventually relented. Jay was horrified to learn of the deaths his assault had caused, and asked if there was anything he could do for Afrael. Afrael, humbled by Jay's apologetic nature, declined.
It would be another year before the two would meet again, on a visit by Jay to Sesilen. At this point, Jay was growing concerned about the rise in Demon activity in Elemaran, and asked Afrael for advice. At first, Afrael grew angry at the apparent gall to ask something of him after killing his family, but the two eventually came to an agreement. They are far from friends. but have a degree of mutual respect. Along with the other members of Staema Alera, the two are currently hunting down demons in Erdantia and Eseris in the hopes of killing a Demon Monarch.
