Wind

Wind is the movement of air across Elema sometimes a gentle breeze, sometimes a powerful current that reshapes the land. Though invisible to the naked eye, it can always be felt. Only those with specialized abilities or magical sight can directly perceive the flow of wind mana within it.   Wind is ever-changing, shaped by climate, pressure differences, and terrain. It carries seeds across continents, shapes dunes and coastlines, and drives weather systems. At its strongest, it becomes a destructive force capable of toppling structures and altering entire regions.

Manifestation

Wind forms through the natural movement of air between areas of high and low pressure. As it travels, it gathers traces of wind mana, which influence its behavior and intensity.
  • Low wind mana concentration produces gentle breezes—steady, calming currents that carry pollen, seeds, and scent trails across the landscape.
  • Moderate concentrations create strong winds capable of hindering travel, lifting debris, and contributing to larger weather systems.
  • High wind mana saturation can intensify storms, accelerate cyclones, or amplify other natural disasters.
The strength of wind depends largely on the pressure gradient between high- and low-pressure zones. The greater the difference, the stronger the current. Wind mana does not create wind on its own but can enhance its force or alter its stability.
Types of Wind
  • Gentle Breeze – Light, steady airflow that cools the air and supports seed dispersal.
  • Strong Wind – Powerful currents that make movement difficult and lift dust or debris.
  • Gale or Storm Wind – Violent gusts often associated with storms and extreme weather systems.
  • Razor Wind (Rare) – An unusual and dangerous phenomenon where wind mana saturates airborne particles, sharpening and accelerating them to the point they can cause cuts or slicing injuries. This effect is extremely rare and typically associated with unstable mana conditions.
Wind plays a vital role in Elema’s ecosystems—spreading plant life, carrying fragrance for animals to track, moderating temperature, and sustaining climate balance. At the same time, it can be an obstacle or a threat when intensified.

Localization

Wind occurs throughout the world. Nearly every climate experiences some degree of airflow. Its frequency, strength, and temperature depend on:
  • Regional pressure systems
  • Terrain (mountains, valleys, coastlines)
  • Climate conditions
  • Local wind mana density
Even in the calmest environments, air rarely remains still for long. Wind is one of the most constant forces in Elema subtle, shifting, and ever-present.
