The Great Wolf Eclipse

Gather around, and I'll tell you how the Three Tribes came together under the Great Wolves. This was long before our dwarven cousins arrived from the depths, when the Lightbringers, Illuminating Ripple, and Ray Dancers were distinct clans that roamed the world separately.

The Lightbringers, a human tribe, were noted for their adaptability, as formidable warriors who could both work the soil and wield a blade. The Illuminating Ripple, a nomadic elven tribe, lived in perfect harmony with nature, studying the world's ebb and flow with unparalleled intelligence and agility. Finally, the Ray Dancers, a centaur tribe, lived by the wind and followed their instincts wherever the spirits led them; they were swift, strong, and implacably stubborn.

For years, these three tribes roamed the same territory, sometimes warring, sometimes establishing uneasy truces. Every spring, their chieftains met to negotiate their lands, but no lasting peace was ever reached. Then, during one such occasion, fate interfered. A wounded dire wolf, with strained breath, stumbled into their midst. At that very moment, the sun and two moons aligned in a perfect cosmic eclipse—a rare cosmic phenomenon that the tribes saw as a divine sign. As the chieftains watched, the dire wolf gave birth to three cubs before dying.

The chiefs interpreted this as an omen, a hint that their old methods needed to die in order for something new to emerge. Sol, the eldest cub with golden-brown fur, was handed to the Lightbringers. The Illuminating Ripple drew in Azula, the middle cub with a bluish-silver coat. The Ray Dancers raised Lit, the youngest, who had white fur tinted with grey. The tribes vowed to honor this moment by forging a lasting union that would endure beyond cosmos.

As the cubs developed, it became evident they were not your typical dire wolves. They possessed great magic, resembling the celestial bodies that had blessed them upon birth.
• Sol, blessed by the sun, wielded fire and light to nourish crops, lead lost travelers, and destroy adversaries with searing flames.
•Azula, influenced by Odessa and the blue moon, possessed the ability to control water and light, heal wounds, summon rain, and change fortunes with a thought.
• Lit, blessed by Leonardo, commanded snow and light, ensuring people thrived in winter, molding ice into magnificent shapes, and freezing opponents.

As their power expanded, so did their relationship with the tribes. They were no longer ordinary beasts; they spoke, their voices containing wisdom well beyond their years. They led the tribes not as pets or war-beasts, but as spiritual leaders and second chiefs, and their presence attracted additional dire wolves, resulting in large packs within each tribe. For a century, the three tribes thrived, and their friendship became so strong that outsiders dubbed them the Three Wolf Tribes.

Even the brightest of days must eventually dim.

As the tribes approached complete union, talks began about entirely merging into one great people united by the knowledge of the three wolves. However, among them was a young centaur—her name is now lost to time—who would eventually be known as the Celestial Eater. She believed that the tribes had become weak, relying too heavily on the wolves, and that true strength could only be found by standing alone. In her ambition, she invented a forbidden ceremony that would steal the power of the three wolves and transfer it to her own body.

She waited for the day when all three celestial bodies appeared in the sky. The ritual was then carried out by her and a group of warriors who shared her beliefs. The sun and moons diminished, their light seeping into her figure. The sky became black. The world was plunged into a dark nothingness, and she stood there, drunk with power.

She confronted the three wolves, demanding their complete surrender. She declared that as the solitary wielder of their celestial magic, she should govern the three tribs. However, stolen power cannot be tamed. The energy she had absorbed was too large and wild, and it began to pull her apart from within. In her desperation, she lashed out, severely injuring the three wolves—but in doing so, she sealed her own fate. The wolves, despite their weakness, struck her down, their heavenly force recovering what was rightfully theirs. But their wounds proved lethal.

Then they blessed each member of the Three Wolf Tribes, granting a fragment of their magic. Those who followed Sol got the power of the sun. Those who followed Azula controlled the flow of water and fortune. Those who followed Lit embraced the strength of winter and the joy of play.

Finally, they raised their heads to the heavens for the last time. Each wolf howled, their howls echoing over the planet. As they did so, they released cosmic energy from their bodies, building a path of light to the sun and moon. The tribes, filled with both joy and sorrow, smiled through tearful eyes as they waved their final farewell.

From that day forward, the Three Tribes became one, permanently connected by the Great Wolves' history. Even though they had ascended, their souls remained to watch over the tribe, ensuring that the way of the pack would never be forgotten.
