Mory Dorp Species in Elema | World Anvil

Mory Dorp

Mory Drop are little elephant-like creatures with a starting pointed shell. It is a one-of-a-kind species that has a unique way of communicating with one another. Mory Drop pours a liquid out of their trunk that carries their thoughts and emotions into the other trunk of a Mory Drop for understanding. They are pack oriented creatures who are also very cautious.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Mory Drops are a quadrupeds type beast. Its body is protected by a shell with numerous layers of spiky points pointed toward its head. Their head resembles that of an elephant, with a lengthy trunk, floppy ears, and two eyes. Their head and legs are the only visible part of their anatomy. It has strong but pliable skin. Their hoofs resemble that of a liquid-filled balloon that upon contact with the ground, matches the dimensions of the ground allowing the creature to softly walk.

Biological Traits

Their communication style is one of their most distinguishing biological characteristics. Two Mory Drop trunks are pushed up next to each other. They will expel mucus from their right nostril. This will be inserted into the receiver's left nostril. This mucus contains feelings, memories, and thoughts that the Mory Drop wants to express to the other. They can share mucus bubbles at the same time.

Another distinguishing feature is that they can retract their legs and heads inside their bodies while their shell gently expands and forms into a ball. The ball form is utilized for traveling largely over water at a high speed of 18 miles per hour, and it also makes for an extremely durable outer shell.

Ecology and Habitats

They are found in meadows and woodlands, and they prefer to live near bodies of water. This is because their mode of communication necessitates a steady flow of fluids for their body. As a result, Mory Drop prefer to live in pleasant climates where it does not get too cold or too hot in most circumstances.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They are harbors and eat largely vegetation, vegetables, and fruits. They could even consume algae, but due to the lack of nutrients they would need to consume eintire groves to satiate thier hunger.  Because of this they still need some actual plants, vegetables, and fruits.

Behaviour

They are a pack species that form groups of 6 to 8 or even more. Within their group, they are very cheerful and playful. They are extremely wary of anything larger than themselves. These creatures will mate for life. If they lose their mate, they will not be able to find another, but they will live and remain with the group.

Additional Information

Average Intelligence

They are smarter than the majority of wild creatures. With their interesting communication ability. They are able to learn talents and abilities from the pack exceptionally quickly. They are thought to have a greater memory than most animals. Because of that memory capacity and communication skills, Mory Drop could be aware of places they had never visited and run to them. From a predator and know the area like they have lived there before. Giving them always home field advantage.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Their hearing can range from 14 Hertz to 15,000 Hertz. They have greater eyesight than other elephants and can see twice as far as their larger brethren. Like their larger brethren, can detect water from great distances. They can even detect variations when something enters an area.

Under Average Intelligence, you have the sentence, "Was there an interesting communication ability?" which feels a little out of place. Is it maybe a typo? Or perhaps it needs a bit more explanation. Wanted to let you know in case you wanted to do some last minute edits before Summer Camp ends.

It was a typo I was hurrying up because I had an anime convention to go to. Thank you so much and thanks for reading it.

Hi there! I'm back for a closer read.   I've been re-watching Avatar: The Last Airbender, and an elephant with a turtle-like shell is really reminiscent of that show's style of hybrid animals. I think you did a great job of drawing on both--with the turtle's ability to tuck everything within the shell (and travel by rolling! I'm jealous!) and the elephant's social structure. Also, while I don't know if I personally would like communicating via snot, this form of communication is super creative! Great job!

Thanks for the kind words I really did have fun making the Mory Drop. I agree I would not want to communicate by snot ether but I thought it was a fun idea
