Infernalcane
An Infernalcane is a massive inferno-cyclone of shifting, multicolored flames. Anything caught within it is dragged inward and incinerated—one of the purest expressions of fire’s destructive power in the natural world. If you see one coming, you’d better be behind fire-resistant (or, ideally, fireproof) shielding. Otherwise, you’re about to learn what it feels like to be barbecue.
As this walking firestorm advances, it scorches the ground beneath it, stripping heat and fire-mana from the land. In its wake, the region can be left desolated and unnaturally cold, as if the warmth has been burned out of the world itself.
Manifestation
The Infernalcane forms when fire mana saturates the atmosphere to extreme levels, birthing a towering inferno cyclone. Once it begins, the vortex continuously pulls in more and more fire-aspected magic of nearly any variety feeding its growth and volatility.
It will also draw in traces of light mana, visible as multicolored flames swirling through the core of the storm. The phenomenon often starts low to the ground, building into a spiraling column as it “hunts” for the lowest pressure and hottest concentrations, inhaling heat, embers, loose flame, and ambient mana as it goes.
One of the strangest effects is the temperature inversion around it:
Near the vortex: the heat is overwhelming searing, oppressive, and immediate.
Just outside that zone: the air can feel sharply colder than normal, as though warmth is being leeched away.
People close to a forming Infernalcane often report a sudden, violent drop in temperature followed by a surge of intense heat as the cyclone fully ignites and stabilizes.
