Dreamstorm

A Dreamstorm is one of the rarest and most beautiful atmospheric phenomena in Elema. It appears as a drifting cloud of luminous fog swirling with rainbow hues and faint, sparkling motes of light. At a distance, it resembles a painted sky come alive; up close, it feels like walking through living imagination.
When a Dreamstorm settles over a region, it subtly connects the conscious and subconscious minds of those within it. Sleepers may experience unusually vivid dreams, shared visions, or powerful imaginative journeys. Even those who remain awake often find their thoughts wandering into deep reflection or creative insight.
Though breathtaking in appearance, Dreamstorms are not inherently destructive. However, the experiences they provoke dreams, nightmares, shared memories can be emotionally intense.

Manifestation

Dreamstorms form when large amounts of Will energy accumulate over time without being shaped into action, creation, or purpose. This unused will gathers and condenses, eventually coalescing into a luminous, mist-like cloud. The storm tends to drift toward areas where thinking, dreaming beings are most concentrated.
When the Dreamstorm settles, its rainbow-tinted vapor subtly interacts with nearby minds. It does not cause physical harm. Instead, it amplifies imagination and subconscious thought. Those who sleep beneath it may experience:

• Intensely vivid dreams
• Amplified nightmares
• Lucid or hyper-real dream states
• Shared dreamscapes between individuals
• Brief perspective shifts (such as seeing through another dreamer’s point of view)

While under its influence, sensations within dreams can feel extraordinarily real. Once the storm disperses, most individuals recover quickly though the emotional impact of the dreams may linger.
Dreamstorms are also known to stimulate bursts of creativity. Artists, inventors, and scholars have reported remarkable breakthroughs following exposure. However, this effect has led to the rise of Dreambow Seekers individuals who attempt to track and intentionally expose themselves to Dreamstorms in pursuit of inspiration. Such pursuits can be dangerous, as the storms are unpredictable and the psychological intensity is not always pleasant.

Localization

Dreamstorms most commonly occur near Will-aligned ley lines or in regions with large populations of dreaming creatures. Areas with dense emotional or intellectual activity major cities, magical academies, or sacred sites are more likely to attract accumulated Will energy.
Unlike other forms of mana, Will energy is closely tied to thought and intention. When large amounts of unexpressed will gather and condense within the atmosphere, the conditions for a Dreamstorm emerge.
Once the stored Will energy is dispersed or consumed through dreaming and creative release, the storm gradually fades, leaving only memory in its wake.
