Vyras Settlement in Eldris | World Anvil

Vyras

"Are you sure this is a village?" - Traveling Merchant Apprentice
Vyras is a small village several miles southwest of Arves, nestled into the forest with a well worn path leading through it.

Demographics

Most of the residents of Vyras are humans, with a handful of elven slaves. Majority of the residents work the green houses, growing Silver Fern. Wives of the workers are responsible for keeping the home clean while slaves maintain the inn and community meals or educating children.

Government

The community is close knit, following a matriarchal/patriarchal setup with the most senior gardener running the community.

Industry & Trade

Silverfern is traded in town for the basic necessities to survive the winter. Arcane ink used by Fae Binders is sold directly to the guild for a high price, which covers their taxes and needs through the rest of the year and some to spare.

Infrastructure

A central road connects housing with the inn at the end of the road and a well in the center. A worn path leads to the green houses nestled in the woods, sprinkled around in ideal soil.

Assets

12 greenhouses constructed of glass and wood, 2 store houses, 1 workshop.

History

Before the war, the families settled here were farmers. This small settlement was untouched by the war, out of the way and hidden in the woods where soldiers feared to tread due to the Fae folk. After the war, the inventor of Fae binding, [Name Here], stayed in the town studying the Silver Fern and other herbs known to cause Fae issues. A local boy helped create the first Arcane Ink. Once testing concluded with the ink, the village changed. The villagers quickly converted from farming to growing the Silver Fern and several other herbs on the advice of [Name Here]. When the Binder guild was established, they were given exclusive contract to creating the Arcane Ink.
