The Eye's Cant

"When you need to speak about Dancer business, you speak in the Eye's Cant, girl. Especially in public until you are moved to a secure room." - Magpie
The Eye's Cant is spoken by Shadow Dancers and members of the Tiger's Eye Trading Company as a means to sound plain to every day patrons and civilians, but speaking in ciphers about information, jobs, and materials the two organizations do not release to the public. The language relies heavily on knowing the contact and being able to work in the correct phrases into a conversation while showing off their ring or pendant with the eye marker.   Written phrases are less cryptic overall, but done in a cipher with the Eye's Alphabet. Words are written backwards, sentences from the bottom of the page up, right to left. This makes it difficult for outsiders to read or figure out. Trained eyes can read these quickly, but the Shadow Dancers do have enchanted charms that translate these for them easily.   Assassination jobs are given to butchers, marks referred to with animals, preferred methods and publicity with cuts of meat and methods of killing the animal. Thefts are given to general merchants. Spy jobs are given to tailors.

Vocabulary

The vocabulary is heavily influenced by traders terms.
Common Phrases
The Tiger's Eye trading company members address customers with "Hail traveler". Dancers respond with "Hail merchant, what do you have for a weary soul?" From here, the language will vary depending on the jobs the Merchant knows and is involved in. When Dancers are assigned a job, they have a list of phrases given to them to identify their job with the merchants and informants. Dealings with merchants sound like trade deals being arranged rather than purchases being made.
