Midsummer Night

"Woe to you child should you wander into Midsummer Night. It is as a waking dream, full of light, laughter, and festivities. But do not take food offered from a Fae... or you may never leave that moonlit glade."
Midsummer night is a festival held by the Fae folk at the Gyrmoore in Alvalon. It is the goodbye of the old year and welcoming of the new year, held at the peak of their power. It is, foremost, a massive banquet held by the reigning Oberon and Titania.

History

Midsummer night has been around as long as the Fae have been an organized people. It started as a banquet for the Fae court in celebration of the new year. When the Fae and Human kingdoms joined together as Elvalon, the celebration grew to include the human court and displays of power to impress their allies. Not wanting to be outdone, the humans added their own dishes and delicacies to the festival. Leftovers of the bountiful feast were shared with the more common folk. Some generations after the joining, the common folk began to add their own games to the festival, bringing it outside of the Fae court palace.   The flat glades of Gyrmoore became host to the growing festival, where people of both kingdoms could freely attend so long as they contributed and committed to abiding by custom and propriety.

Execution

Festival setup takes several days. An enchantment is placed over the glade to protect from in-climate weather, fae lights are dispersed, and games are set up. Food is cooked the night of and laid out, then guests are free to take as they please.

Participants

The Oberon and The Titania head the ceremonies, overseeing the setup and guests comfort. They are the last to eat, but given the best of the foods.

Observance

Midsummer Night is observed during the full moon in the middle of summer and lasts for three days.
