Displacement in Eldris | World Anvil

Displacement

Displacement is the result of connecting two storage containers. Typically, a displacement is made between a room and a bag or pouch. They are simple for even the weakest Shades to create by creating a kind of tunnel linking the two objects through The Veil. When an item is placed or taken out of the bag, the familiar takes it seemingly instantaneously between places. When a person reaches for a specific thing within the displacement, they are able to convey their thought of what they desire from the room simply by putting their hand in.   A word of caution, Displacements can be disrupted within the veil. Should they collapse with your hand in it, you will not be getting that hand back. Other dangers include the owner placing traps, frostbite, cold burns, numbness, chills, and death if you place something alive through the displacement unawares. To survive travel through a displacement, the creature must be well insulated against the bitter cold and hold its breath until it emerges on the other side. Once across, it is still in danger of succumbing to lingering cold and frost.   A displacement can be cast by one with Shadow's Blight, typically a Shadow Dancer, when they are experienced enough.
