Bugbear

Bugbears in Eldaivyr are a fierce and formidable race, emerging from the union of Goblins and Orcs. Known for their stealth and strength, they have carved out a niche as feared ambush predators. Larger and more robust than their Goblin kin and more cunning than their orcish counterparts, bugbears thrive in the margins of society and wilderness, where they can employ their natural skills in stalking and ambushing prey. Despite their menacing presence, bugbears have a complex society that values stealth, hunting skills, and territorial dominance.   Personality: Bugbears are naturally stealthy and reserved, often perceived as brutish and slow due to their deliberate movements and tendency to rely on ambush tactics. However, they possess a sharp intelligence focused on tactics and survival. They are inherently cautious, preferring to assess situations before acting, which makes them excellent strategists in combat and hunting. Their society encourages silence and secrecy, traits that contribute to their reputation as formidable predators. Bugbears tend to be solitary outside of their immediate family or clan groups, interacting mainly for trade or mutual defense.   Physical Description: Bugbears stand between 6 and 8 feet tall, with bulky, muscular builds that provide them with considerable physical strength. Their skin ranges from dark brown to a rusty orange, covered in a layer of coarse, shaggy fur that helps them blend into their woodland and mountainous homes. Their facial features include large, pointed ears and small, deep-set eyes, typically yellow or red, which are well adapted to low-light conditions. Their hands and feet are large and bear sharp claws, suited for climbing and grappling. Bugbears are generally considered to be an adult at the age of 10, but may not be finished physically, physiologically, and psychologically developing until around the age of 20. The average expected life span of a Bugbear is about 75 years.   Relations: Bugbears maintain a cautious relationship with other races, often seen as threats or rivals. They share a kinship with Goblins and Orcs but are known to live apart, forming their own secluded communities. Their interactions with other races are usually driven by necessity rather than desire, focusing on trade or territorial negotiations. Within their tribes, bugbears have a rigid hierarchy based on strength and hunting prowess, which dictates their social structure and leadership.   Alignment: Bugbears tend towards chaotic alignments, with a strong lean towards chaotic neutral. They value personal freedom and the pursuit of survival over societal laws or moral debates, making them unpredictable but not necessarily evil.   Lands: Bugbears are predominantly found in dense forests and rugged mountainous regions where they can use the terrain to their advantage. They prefer isolated areas where they can establish hidden lairs and hunting grounds without encroachment from more civilized races.   Religion: Bugbear religion is animistic, focusing on the worship of spirits of nature among the Old Ways, particularly those embodying aspects of strength, stealth, and the hunt. They may not have structured religious practices but hold deep respect for the spiritual forces of their environment, offering tributes after hunts and during seasonal changes.   Language: Bugbears speak Goblin, a language shared with their Goblin relatives, but also use a variety of guttural sounds and gestures specific to their kind, which are particularly useful for silent communication during hunts.   Names:
