Star Elf

The star elves are the most ancient and unaltered form of high elves—crated directly by Eredhan, the true father of elvenkind, to embody his own perfect balance of grace and wisdom. While the moon elves reflect Eruwen's elegance and the sun elves channel Glandaer's luminous strength, the star elves are the living reflection of Eredhan himself—serene, unshakeable, and purposeful. They walk the middle path: neither specialists nor ascetics, but amsters of harmony between opposing forces.

Appearance

Star elves are easily recognized by their otherworldly features. Their skin is smooth and velvety, bearing a close resemblance to the fair-skinned humans of Cetandar. However, their most striking trait is their obsidian-black eyes, filled with tiny, ever-shifting points of starlight. These eyes do not merely reflect the heavens—they contain them as a mote of Eredhan's own power. Their hair varies from platinum to pale gold, with occasional hues of shimmering silver. They carry themselves with unshakable poise, moving with silent purpose and a grace born of divinity itself.

Culture and Philosophy

Star elven society is built around the tenet of balance as divinity. Magic and swordplay are not treated as separate disciplines, but as complementary aspects of the soul. Every star elf is taught the blade and the scroll, the meditation of form and the incantation of force. This unity of arts is most fully realized in the revered tradition of Bladesinging—a martial arcane school founded by the star elves and passed onto their elven kindred, though never taught outside of those of Eredhan's pure stock—deep elves, unlike other elves, are not permitted to learn the style, nor are the half-blooded spawn of elves and man. In battle, star elves do not explode with power or overwhelm with numbers. Instead, they flow—weaving spell and steel in symmetrical arcs of destruction and defense.   Their study of magic emphasizes cosmic understanding over raw power. Star elves believe that all arcane magic is drawn from celestial forces—the stars, constellations, and the cycles of time. Thus, they often devote their lives to astronomy, divination, planar lore, and the metaphysical study of ley lines and celestial influence. Where sun elves perfect spells, and moon elves master form, star elves decode the language of the universe itself.

Society and Order

Unlike their sun and moon kin, star elves eschew elaborate hierarchies or martial castes. Their leadership emerges from merit and equilibrium. A star elf commander is expected to be a competent spellcaster, a disciplined warrior, and a philosopher in equal measure. Governance is often handled by triads of advisors—each embodying a different focus between logic, intuition, and discipline, ensuring that no singular viewpoint dominates.   Their cities are built on high mountain ridges, quiet islands, or places where the stars are clearest and least disturbed by earthly pollution. These settlements are constructed from pale marble, starlight glass, and enchanted stone that reflects celestial patterns. Ritual observatories, mirrored pools, and stargazing towers are found in every settlement, each aligned to constellations known only to them.

Religion

The star elves revere Eredhan not only as their creator, but as their ideal. He is the stillness before the storm, the sword held in restrain, and the word left unspoken when silence teaches more. However, they do not pray only to him, holding all elven deities in regard, balancing them against each other. Their rites are subdued, meditative, and often involve attuning one's magic and breath to the movement of stars.   Where other elves see the divine in beauty or brilliance, star elves see it in symmetry—in the union of opposites made whole.

Interactions with Other Elves

To moon and sun elves, star elves often seem distance—neither as impassioned nor as driven. Yet their wisdom and skill are rarely questioned. Star elves often act as mediators between other elven factions, settling disputes with calm reason and quiet strength. While they do not directly lead elven society, their voice carries great weight among those who remember the old ways, and those who still pay reverence to their divine father.   To outsiders, star elves are enigmatic and awe-inspiring—guarded, perceptive, and unhurried. Their patience can be disarming, and their combination of lethality and serenity marks them as some of the most formidable individuals in Elaris, even if they rarely draw attention to themselves.
