New Braeland

According to each local baron or duke, New Braeland is what remains of the old Braeland kingdom that used to span across most of central Elanora. Also according to each local baron or duke, they and they alone are the true heirs to that kingdom. Braeland used to field ten thousand knights who held central military control, but those days are long gone. The Little Warriors Adventurers Guild and the rest of the Verdant Kingdoms now provide local security where the knights did not, at least preventing the local barons from using scorched-earth tactics and declaring total war on each other.

Farmers and serfs have a precarious existence, as they are likely to have their work and produce claimed as tax by whatever robber baron controls their village at the time. It's little wonder many locals see a life of plunder and murder on the sea - as a pirate on deck, rather than a shackled rower - as something to aspire to.

Despite the death of King Trost and the destruction of Starport during the War, 'New Braeland' is still occassionally referred to as a soveriegn nation - usually by a gang of small barons trying to impress on the Duke of Pizol that the old baronies of the Tanquary region still demand respect.
