The Soulguard

A militant branch of Erala’s clergy dedicated to hunting down any and all intelligent undead, as well as necromancers who create them or otherwise interfere with the natural progression of souls into the afterlife. Most of its members are mundane warriors who simply follow Erala’s faith with great fervor; however, many higher ranking members are granted favor from their goddess in the form of divine magic and occasionally guidance from her servants. Although a hatred of any and all forms of necromancy is the common outside view, this is a misconception; like most of Erala’s church, the Soulguard is largely ambivalent towards mindless undead and necromancers who only create mindless undead. In general, if the afterlife and the progression of souls to it isn’t being affected, the Soulguard will not step in.
They frequently come into conflict with Emloy’s clerics.
