Emloy

God of War, Envoy of Death

As a god of war, Emloy watches over every battlefield. No matter how bloody and unfair it is or how noble and honorable, as long as it’s war, he’s there. To him strength and courage is everything. His priests and oracles gather around conflicts and big wars like moths fly towards the light, each of them being a warrior and taking part in the fights themselves – showing no mercy even for their own on the other side of the conflict. There are temples to him only in places of frequent war and strife, while his priests erect small shrines in his name near recent battlefields. His clergy acts as proxies to gather souls though their own bodies, which then Emloy judges based on his whim and their achievements as warriors, taking them away from the fair judgement of Erala.

Dogma

Emloy condemns cowardice and lack of strength, though he approves of the desire to be strong and acting upon it. He values first and foremost personal strength and counting on your own abilities before another's. Contrary to common belief, Emloy does not condemn getting the aid of allies or working together - he recognizes the difference between courage and foolishness.

History

According to oral history, Emloy is one of the oldest gods in existence, born from the desire of war and strength of sentient races. His worship only rose as the number of people increased, giving him strength and putting him among the more powerful gods, especially in times of war.

Home

Emloy's realm of Karas appear similar to how the material plane is, making many people wonder on his origins. The realm itself is full of tightly clustered groups of worshippers engaged in eternal war among each other. These with exceptional strength receive Emloy's recognition and join him as Agents of War which is the highest honor for his faithful.

Relationship

As a self-centered god, Emloy doesn't have many allies among gods. His relationships range mostly from neutral to outright hostile. Gods who are lawful aligned and care about honor especially despise Emloy, due to the different methods they use to achieve the same goals. This is especially prominent for Erala, whom treats his forceful abductions of warrior souls as a grave insult and breach of rules. His relationship with Mryn’quotam is especially interesting. While not outright hostile, they often get in bouts to prove the superiority and strength they achieve though different means.

Providence

Rare as it is, Emloy shows his favor by granting great strength and endless courage in face of adversity. The eyes of people who were favored, appear red and their weapons or fists soaked in more blood than normally possible. In times of peace it's a firm but reassuring palm on one's shoulder.

Church of Emloy

The church of Emloy is mostly composed of warriors of great strength and charismatic leaders who value war and don't shrink from combat itself. The church is known for seeking out any ongoing wars and taking part in them, often teachings young people the art of war and serving as arbiters over duels to the death. Although many groups exist in Emloy's church, a few stand out more than others.

The Maidens of War

Lead by the High Maiden of War it's a group composed only from females. Unknown to most, they are the most valued warriors on the material plane and the appearance of one usually means much blood being spilled. Due to the intimate relationship women have with life, they serve as an excellent conduct to collect souls for Emloy's endless armies in Karas and are granted a male's strength in return.

Butcherers of Darwell

A group coming to existence in the city of Darwell in Syrvelot in the battles against the Marquisate of Perle. In the years long struggle, many people turned towards the worship of Emloy to survive the tribulations of war embracing it wholly. As they have proven their worth, they were blessed by Emloy himself and caused more casualties than any other force. Feared by both sides, they gained the stigma of butcherers and wield it to this day proudly.

Clergy

Most of the priests of Emloy consist of Clerics, Warpriest and Paladins, but there are many members who represent other classes. They can be found almost always only in places where strife and war is present. Every priest serves an important role on battlefields. They serve as conduct for souls to be drawn to Emloy's realm before Erala can take a grasp upon them. If it's an unwilling soul, they are simply sent back towards the Guardian of the Fallen, but if it's a soul of a warrior, or even someone who wishes to avoid an unfavorable judgment then they get tested in a trial by combat. It's a test where a person's prowess, courage and spirit are weighted. Some say that Emloy is able to peer into souls just as deeply as Erala can, but neither of the two gods ever revealed it. The rare members who survive till old age and retire, serve in the few selected temples and wear tightly fit black and white robes that still allow for unrestricted movements ready for combat at any time.

Temples and Shrines

Temples dedicated to Emloy are among the most rare among all of the gods. They are built in places of historical significance where major battles took place, often away from cities. The structures are both spacious, and built to be a equal to a fort for times of war. The temples itself are very simple and don't have many decorations other than long red silken tapestries hanging from the inner balconies and many instruments of war mighty warriors are displayer in the vicinity of the alter - used in the times of war by the most worthy of the clergy. With the small amount of temples, the priests of Emloy deploy small shrines all around the world to spread his worship. They are a simple token to show that Emloy is watching.

Holidays

There is only one holiday all of the devoted worshippers take part in. It's the Combat Feast. On the 22th of september, if not occupied by an ongoing war, the worshippers gather to duel each other and seek out beasts of great strength to prove how far they have grown over the year. It's also the time for feuds between believers to be resolved.
