Cryll

Starting with what is sometimes referred to as the "Gem of Achitar," the city of Cryll hosts the critically important mining industry. Serving as the hub that all the mines in the Scalespike Mountain Range send their deposits to, Cryll hosts the majority of Achitar's smiths, masons, jewelers, cobblers, and other professions dependent on the mines and quarries of the Scalespike Mining Company, which holds the royal charter to the Scalespike Mountain Rage and the surrounding areas. The great wealth the company has raked in has allowed Cryll to develop considerably, with many solid two and three story buildings dominating the paved streets.

Culture

The population of Cryll primarily consists of the descendants of the original miners, prisoners, and indentured servants that survived the early mines, so the common folk of Cryll are often characterized as gruff and hardworking individuals who care little for manners but throw the best drinking parties. Due to how consistently loud workplaces are in Cryll, people who have grown up in Cryll have a tendency to speak loudly, even in quiet places. As dwarves hold most of the power in Cryll, many customs and traditions of the Gem of Achitar are modeled after Dwarven society, with rigid work ethics and strong emphasis on friend, family, and community bonds. Regardless of the differences between the common races, the citizens of Cryll are universally unwelcoming to any of the savage races. While races such as Vanara and Lizardfolk are tolerated, goblinoids, kobolds, and orcs will find no quarter in Cryll, as inns will refuse to house them, worker gangs will actively target them, land owners refuse to sell property to them, and the authorities will accuse them of crimes first.

Government

The governor and marquis of Cryll is Forgemaster Hjolden Invar, a massive, stoic dwarf who stands as tall as a human. His father, Graldaror Invar, was the marquis first granted mining rights in Achitar by King Virreau I himself, and Hjolden himself has lived long enough to swear fealty to all three kings personally. As head of the Invar Clan of smiths and the Scalespike Mining Company that holds the royal charter to Cryll and all of the Scalespike Mountain Range, the Forgemaster commands great power and respect. Underneath him are the lords who serve as Ward Representatives, who each manage a ward of Cryll.

Infrastructure

Cryll is split up into eighteen separate districts called wards. The three wards that comprise the majority of Cryll's economy are the Migdhal Ward (warehouse district, where ore comes in and finished works go out), the Muzkhgrum Ward (furnace district, location of the famous Central Furnace landmark), and the Angaz Ward (ironworks district, where all smiths and artisans gather). Equally important to keeping Cryll functional is the Vithang Ward (trade district, where merchants gather to sell locally), the Valdahaz Ward (brewery ward, where grains from Fenfield are made into real Dwarven drinks), and the Tiwaz Ward (inn district, where tourists often stay and gangs of workers often go to party in). Beyond those six wards are the twelve clan wards, which are each run by distinct Dwarven clans. The most important of them is the Invar Ward, as it not only serves as the home of the Invar Clan, but also as the administrative district and meeting place where all important decisions are made. The other eleven clan wards, collectively known as the Elkiuthrong Wards, are where the majority of the population lives, with the spectrum of rich and poor denizens generally grouping in specific wards.
