Azrael threw a fit today and punched Imhael. I sent him to his room and had Sister Mal take Imhael to the Raphael to get healed up. When I spoke to Azrael he told me something that I had been expecting since I was given my title.
He is scared and angry. Someone told him what his Tasks might be. He asked me if I could take the Name back. Bawled for what seemed like hours when I told him no. I know its The Gate's duty but that doesn't do much to console a small boy afraid for a future he didn't choose.
I seek comfort in the knowledge that he would have had a future at all, not with how tiny and starving he was when I put him in the room. Not one babe has died of hunger or sick once placed there, no matter how weak. I made the choice for him and I will teach him how to bear his burden.

Qualifications

Children that are considered orphans, either by the death of their parents or by abandonment, will be taken into The Gate.

Once at The Gate they will be placed in the Debeo Caelestis.
Although children approximately older than 8 have never been Named, due to the ambious ages of many orphans, all pre-pubescent children are tested in the naming ritual.

Appointment

Mother performs the Naming Ritual, placing the child inside the Debeo Caelestis. Once inside the Patron Angels decide through their mysterious requirements if a child is to be Named. 
The rooms inside is filled with faintly glowing sigil of all active Named, the newest Patron's sigil glows brighter than the rest for a few days after as the bond forms.

Duties

Named have one main duty; complete the Tasks of their Patron. In order to better do this, they train, get educated and assist in any chores and responsibilities The Gate needs.

Benefits

The Named gain the ability to use the Angel Sigils of their Patron.
