Sabesian Observatory

The Sabesian Observatory is a well known observatory for astronomical studies in Gamiantown Sabesbank. It is part of the great Sabes' Temple, contained in a tower above the settlement.
On the roof of the tower is the largest and most modern telescope for astronomical uses, build by the principles of the Zeynsohn Telescope. The Dome ceiling with the opening for the telescope can be turned together with a small platform for the telescope itself within a 350° angle-range.
The observatory serves both religious and scientific purposes. Acolytes of Sabes are trained in observing and documenting the movements of the stars, which are preserved in a large archive within the tower itself. Scholars regularly use these observations to determine and confirm the laws these astrological bodies move. This has yielded several theories about the nature of physics, nature, and magic already and large parts of the educated elite are excited about any new findings from the observatory.
As an additional task, the observatory is tracking the path of the comet Zecod's Fall with an increased effort to determine the next close pass of the dark god's prison. Some concerning models have predicted an event of the closest pass by the planet's surface than ever before, and both scholars and priests are debating increasingly worried eventual ramification of that. These findings have been largely kept from the public, but are starting to become more widely known.
