Creatures of the world
Creatures of the Cities
Best known to each one of us are the creatures we see every day. Roaming the streets of our towns, perching on the roofs or rummaging through our garbage. While they may seem mundane, no compendium of beasts would ever be complete, if we were never to mention these daily reminders, that we are not the only ones living off the gifts of civilization.
Myrill, the Striped Rodent
#2 Stripes Highly CommonThis small rodent is very quick to climb trees, columns and houses and steadily jumps across the alleys. It often gathers nuts and seeds from all over town and brings it back to their nest. Originally it lived in woodlands but started to migrate more towards civilization, where it could more easily gather food. Unfortunately, living in dense populated areas causes the Myrill to lose their stripe's bright color with each generation.
Tabrigg, the blackwinged Rooftop Nester
#1 Wings Highly Common
A small bird with a small pointy beak and remarkably little color. It is very docile and can often seen flying and scurring among people, even a busy market. They live off of crumbs and food found on the streets. Tabrigg build their nests on rooftops and their characteristic cooing sounds are heard all across the town. To some settlements, the growing number of these birds is considered an infestation.
Daxari, the nocturnal omnivor
#17 Burrow Common
Daxari are large rodents with sharp shovel-like claws and dark fur. It often builds their burrows in the gardens of people, where it spends most of the day together with a small family. During the night they will solitarily roam the streets. Daxari are surprisingly capable of opening closed containers, containing trash they search for through. Unfortunately, they are not very careful and often topple over the bins, spilling garbage everywhere.
