Foodfall Tradition / Ritual in Ekkirah | World Anvil

Foodfall

Aside from many of the more intelligent sentient species, some of the monster settlements survived the Ascent as well, given very lucky circumstances. One of these settlements was Bonewall. This kobold village, founded in skeleton of a giant beached whale on a beach at the bottom of a cliff, survived by the ribcage blocking most of the falling rocks from hitting the small critters constructions.   While they were hiding, cowering in fear, the tremors above led eggs of birds, small sheep and other animals to fall down the cliff and hit the ground in the village's center. Once the world's anger subsided, the small creatures exited their building to find that they suddenly had massive amounts of fresh meat and eggs, among plants and mushrooms that have been derootet during the event.. Endulging it, they figured that it was a gift from Niknik, the kobold god of the hunt. After everything was consumed, the chief of the tribe declared this to be a holy day and that they should devote their lives to praise this deity.   To this day, with this species being unable to accurately track time and dates, lacking the knowledge required to do so, every now and again celebrate what they call 'Foodfall'. During this festivity, the chief, the only kobold capable of primitive magic, creates small tremors, which promt every inhabitant to open their windows and doors to throw food, water, ale, vegetables and other edible scavaged material into the village's center.   This effectively creates, what most other species would call an appalling mess, but to the kobolds, it is a feast, waiting to be eaten. After their chief praises Niknik, thanking him for all the gifts they recieved that day, the scene turns into a feeding frenzy free for all. With every creature trying to eat as much as possible before the pile of food is gone.
