Vundkrag

Vundkrag is a kingdom located in the northeast of Talazic. It is home to the Elder mountain range, containing Mount Zorn, the largest volcano in Talazic. Its capital and the seat of its king is Shildefficte. Other important cities include Silverkeep, Bluffholt, and Sim Rina. The current ruler of Vundkrag is King Ulfgar Steelforge, son of Kilvar Steelforge.

History

Vundkrag arose from the small country of Himinnheim in the wake of the Great Shadow, as many dwarves had banded together to create strongholds in the harsh, unforgiving mountains, which had never before been claimed. Many found refuge in the temple of Kaeli in Silverkeep, seeing as, though the city had been attacked viciously, the temple was never breached. In the end, the temple was all that remained of Himinnheim, and even the royal family had been destroyed. A few dwarven settlements remained underground for some time even after the Shadow had ended, not knowing.
A short conflict raged from EL 24 to 26 regarding who should rule the new kingdom, and in the end it was Telkin Steelforge of the small town of Lágtvegg (now in ruins) who won out. The capital was originally Silverkeep, but was moved to Shildefficte in 278 after concerns arose surrounding the depth of involvement the Kaelic clerics were having in political decisions.
