Abeké

The Abeké (known by other names across the lands) are a highly intelligent, terrestrial humanoid species that exclusively inhabit Tahanane (known to other civilisations as the Admi Scrub). They are omnivorous and have an extremely slow metabolism, and will eat almost anything, including but not limited to rocks and minerals. They are of great stature, standing between 20-30 feet on average. They live for about 25-50 years, but do not die of old age; unless they are killed unexpectedly, sometime between ages 25 and 50 the Abeké will voluntarily cross over to another plane of existence, ending their life in this world. When one Abeké leaves this world, another enters in its place.

The Abeké have immense psychic powers granted by the mystical trees in Tahanane; their abilities are most geared towards channelling, telepathy, and opening portals. They frequently hop dimensions in search of further spiritual enlightenment or entertainment. They haven’t developed past basic tools not for low intelligence but because they seek spiritual advancement only. They are animistic ontologists, spending much of their time in meditation and searching for transcendence, but they are doomed never to find the connection they seek on this plane.

The Abeké are very curious beings with a high drive to communicate with other advanced life forms, but they are unaware of their strength and capabilities and haven’t yet grasped how to not accidentally kill or destroy the things they interact with, both physically and psychically. They see themselves as inquisitive, open beings, but are seen by other civilisations as dangerous and violent entities. The Abeké don’t quite understand why nobody has made any concerted effort to contact or communicate with them; there has been a buffer zone similar to that surrounding Zidaonan territory drawn around Tahanane by the Khasaazeh, Brìgdoell, and Créndual to prevent further death toll. The Khasaazeh know the Abeké as the Anfal, to the Brìgdoell they are the Cìndra, and to the Créndual they are the Ciondór. With the ostracism from these three cultures in mind, the Abekéni crossover from this plane to the next occurs when they realise they will never obtain the connections they seek in this world. They have no oral or written language; most of their communication is telepathic, and vocalisations are typically only used for entertainment or meditative purposes.
