Personal history
Born to Outlander Rolandite parents in the Free Island Cities of Aberdeen Gardens, and although he had always been a legal Rolandite himself, Marcus found even in his early life that he felt the most open the further away from Roland he got. In his early life, the young outlander was insatiably curious, and often sprinted along the rooftops of the mountainside flotilla city to sneak in and out of backyards just fo find out what mundane secrets they held.
At 15, Marcus' island city was spared the initial salvo from the Port Bastion artillery array, Mt. Ironcloud, although only barely. The first night, fires broke out along the outer floating blocks and traced a line of fire across the horizon as if to trap the island dwellers in their homes. With their own demise still a shadow on the horizon, Marcus' mother arranged for the young man to travel to Harmon, to petition his grandfather for refuge. Although Outlanders are not Roland citizens, Marcus' mother was a member of the lower houses, which denoted Marcus a Roland citizen by birthright. Perhaps, under that methodology, her grandfather might accept him.
Along with his smithy apprentice friend Edward, the two left to the Roland mainland. The Aberdeen Sea would be clear in a week.
Education
Marcus and Edward arrived in Harmon and made for the Foxwood estate. Initially, the patriarch of the estate refused to meet with them, but upon Marcus proclaiming his full name, taken from his uncle, and turned his grandfather's heart.
