MTS1933 - Material Twilight Shade 1933 - Riftium
The only samples of MST1933 known are a handful of crystals that the Silent Scream secured as part of the Mistlands Accords. Further Mubari approved expeditions have been unable to find the route the fated Lynx expedition followed, and nothing in the copious notes on the Map of Tears would indicate where more samples might be obtained.
How the Silent Scream knew to secure the valuable crystals from among all the samples is unknown, however, the branded families are forever indebted to them. MST1933 is unusual in that it naturally exudes heat unrelated to any known chemical or radioactive decay process. It is theorized the substance is channeling energy from alternate quantum realms. Originally thought to be yet another Curium isotope, its unique properties have gained it a distinction as a singular mineral.
Experimentation on minute quantities lead to the discovery of the "flash state." There is a small temperature range at which MST1933 is liquid. When it reaches boiling point, it evaporates catastrophically. While in the liquid state, MTS1933 exhibits a superconductive-like property where any power demand can be satisfied - an example of the unknown energy channeling mechanism.
From a single crystal of the small handful procured by the Silent Scream, enough fuel cells were created to power the cities of the branded families. Research is currently focused on wireless power transmission so that the current fuel cell network can power the entire of Eilea.
