The Bloodstone Prison

Located on cliffs that overlook the mouth to Blackwater Bay lies the infamous prison of the Kzar Syndicate called Sangoŝtono. It's a well-fortified, heavily guarded, underground prison deep in a former bloodstone mine. The precise location of the prison is known to many within the Syndicate, but hidden to most outsiders. This is a place where the rich and powerful can pay to have their enemies imprisoned and hidden away from the world.
The entrance to the prison is concealed within a cave on a small, rocky beach in a tiny cove protected by shallow reefs, jagged rocks, and strong currents. There is but one safe way to enter the cove and the path is a closely guarded secret. Visitors, supplies, and new inmates are typically brought to Sangoŝtono at night to prevent observation or disclosure of the safe path into the cove.

Layout

There are 4 subterranean levels to the prison. Each level is well-guarded and regularly patrolled.

Entry Level

The entry level is reached via a small cave that opens to the landing beach. The cave leads to a heavily-fortified entry chamber that's easily defended and rumored to be impossible to breach. The entry chamber is filled with traps and can be attacked from 3 sides. There are also reputed to be terrible monsters that can be set loose in the event of attack.

Second Level

The second level contains several chambers of prison cells, a reception hall, the warden's office, guard chamber, and supply stores.

Third Level

The third level contains another series of chambers each containing a group of prison cells. There is also the Great Chamber which is used as a work area, kitchen, and assembly room. Located just off the Great Chamber is a refuse pit, guard chambers, fresh water chamber, and a passage to The Pit. The Pit is the entrance to the lower mines where inmates must dig for bloodstones to pay for their food and any "luxuries" (stools, blankets, candles, etc.) they might want.

Fourth Level

The fourth level is the warden's quarters. Access to this level is restricted.

Warden

Sangoŝtono is overseen by Aronno Hestinar -- a trusted Estro of Domo Delasarius. He is a hard and unforgiving man of middle age. Aronno has served as warden of the prison for more than 20 years.

Guards

Many of the guards of Sangoŝtono are themselves prisoners of a sort. Being assigned to the prison guard is often a form of punishment for those that have displeased or failed one of the Kzars of the Syndicate.
