Mythology & Lore

Before time there was the Sun and the Moon. They dwelled together in the heavens, rejoicing in each others' presence and in their love. But although they loved each other dearly, they were alone in the universe. For the Sun this was not a hardship, for it enjoyed the peacefulness of solitude and would frequently walk the void alone in meditation. But in these times the Moon grew lonely and though it did not begrudge the Sun it's solitude, she craved for companionship. For this reason the Moon created the Stars.   The Stars were each a pale imitation of the Sun's brightness, but in their numbers shone as bright. Now the Moon would never be alone. But when the Sun saw what had been done it grew jealous for it could no longer claim the Moon's undivided affection.   In a jealous rage, the Sun attacked the Stars and began throwing them from the sky. Thankfully, the Moon soon saw what was happening and stopped it. The Moon explained why it had made the Stars, for company while the Sun was away not to replace it. This way, the Sun could still wander as it pleased without leaving the Moon lonely, but when the Sun returned the pair could be together.   Seeing the error of its ways, the Sun repented, and sorrowed over the Stars it had cast down. To make up for this transgression, it created the Earth and gave it unto the fallen Stars to live in and rule as they pleased.   The Fallen Stars were used to being among thousands, and their small numbers made them lonely, so together they crafted all of the animals and plants that inhabit the world, and also they created the elves. Now each Fallen Star had a part of their creation that it loved best, either in nature or in the minds of their Earthly children, and over this they watched most closely.   As the elves matured as a people the Fallen Stars, now Gods in their own right, stepped back to watch what they did with the life that was given them. Each God watched over their favored thing, and would step forward only rarely to reward or assist those who earned their favor.

Cosmological Views

The Sun and Moon were the creators of the universe, having existed alone in the void of space before time. The Moon created the Stars to keep it company while the Sun was away wandering, which is why they are seen only at night, while the Moon can be seen during both night and day.   The Earth was created as a place for those Stars that had been cast out of the sky in the Sun's rage, before the Moon calmed it. Those Stars shaped the Earth into what it is and guided the elves into what they are today.

Tenets of Faith

The Gods, those Fallen Stars of myth, are pleased to watch their creation from afar, but they will reward those who catch their eye.   The specific tenets vary, and most individuals have one god they prefer above others whose tenets they follow.
