Continent of Feihon

Far to the south, across the ocean, you will find a land that is verdant and fruitful. Where flowering trees dot the mountainsides, overlooking patchwork valleys of farmland and meandering rivers. Here the people want for nothing, and all live in comfort and luxury, for life is easy and the Empire cares for its own.   At least, that is what the elves claim of their homeland.

Geography

Feihon is the largest continent on the planet, spanning both east and west hemispheres and lying largely across the planet's equatorial zone. The majority of the continent enjoys a tropical or sub-tropical climate, with only the most southern tip seeing cooler temperatures.   Several mountain chains cross the land, and between them lush, rain-soaked valleys and plains. Thick, mountainous rainforest covers much of the eastern half of the continent. Because of this, the region is difficult to colonize and most major cities are in the west and along the coast.

Fauna & Flora

Feihon is the native home of the Elves and all their related sub-species and cultures.   Many plants that grow in the tropical regions of Feihon cannot be found elsewhere in the world, for the climates in Egera and Vrudias are too cool or harsh. Most such species are of no interest or use, but several have become sought after for their beauty. Various types of orchid flowers are native to the jungles, as well as brightly feathered birds, and a species of spotted deer prized for it's coat and antlers.

Natural Resources

The staple crop of the region is rice, which is native to the continent and has been domesticated into a handful of varieties that are easy to farm, either in valleys or on terraced plots in the mountains. Other staple crops include root vegetables such as taro and sweet potatoes, citrus fruits, and soy beans. Domesticated animals include chickens, ducks, and a local species of oxen.   The tropical and sub-tropical seas, as well as rivers and lakes, are excellent fishing locations, providing numerous species of edible fish. Deer and wild birds can be hunted in the woodlands.   The thick jungles and woodlands that cover much of the continent make wood an easy resources to exploit, and as such it has become the main construction material. Stone, therefore, is quarried only sparingly, but metals such as iron and silver are mined beneath the mountains.
