A beautiful and picturesque town that hold hundreds of townsfolk, living along with the land, fishing, hunting and growing crops. The town uses the fast moving Icegreen River to not only feed themselves, but also transport goods south.
The town would be perfect for life, if it wasn't for it's double-edged location, and goblin ruins buried beneath it.

Location:

Whitefork is a small to medium sized town that sits on the western shore of Icegreen river, one day south where the Köhlhutrst river and the Verdönn River meet. is location within Gothmyr is a fortnight East of the Baronial capital of Bättenstat. On the shore of the fast flowing Icegreen River, the town benefits from being both close tothe Baronial capital, but its location is where the Westernwood and Brambledeep Forest meet. Surrounding three sides of Whitefork are jagged, old hills protect the town and fields from further elements of weather. Unfortunately, this means Whitefork is surrounded by crags and hillocks rife with goblin tribes and gnoll raiders.

History:

During the broth of the current Age, Bättenstat soliders began clearing the chaotic lands surrounding the baronial city and chasing off or killing tribes of both gnolls and goblins. The gnolls were smart enough to run and regroup, while the goblins were too scared to do much of anything. The soliders cleared an ancient town ruins from a previous age that the goblins used as a fortification, but it was soon turned into a military outpost. While the suveyors and scribes looked across the land, the White water frothing in the Icegreen River where both of the northern rivers joined, gave the outpost its name. Whitefork eventually became a location for specialized troops (Wizards, clerics, Rangers) were trained and stationed.

The town was built upon what humans see as an ancient town from the previous Age, but the goblins and gnolls in the crags around Bättenstat believe the land was their first. Goblin raids of outer farms, as well as gnolls taking farmers and woodcutters hostage. Most are held for ransom as a common occurrence, but as of late, the frequency of raids has increased.

Leadership:

Originally, e superior officers handed the rule of the outpost to a War Wizard, Hrut Handoga of Merstat. He became Stadtherr and Governor of Whitefork. Hrut hired and appointed a council of military wizards to rule in a council form, for the day to day events of Whitefork. After four generations, The council became the only ruling body of the town and their outlook is heavily based on magic and its continuation of study. The Council of Mages, known as The Five of White Fork. the Pentumvirate run the city and its aspects, in turn for the Baron of Bättenstat.
