Angel

Angels, sometimes referred to as Sky Elves, are a race of godkin featuring light skin, wings, and a natural affinity for magic. They are often seen as one of the most mysterious races inhabiting Maji by outsiders as they reside in a very isolated kingdom with a defensive culture.

Homeland

Main Articles: Straten Mountains & Long Rock Mountains   Angels originally hail from Earth where they usually lived in isolated communities and kingdoms within mountains. Upon migrating to Maji, they quickly took up a similar lifestyle, settling the Straten Mountains on the continent of Lakelandia.   Eventually they used powerful magic to create Kis' Kingdom, a kingdom of cities floating far above the ground, hidden by clouds and suspended over the mountains they once called home. Throughout the history of Kis' Kingdom, it has occupied two separate regions of Maji, the Straten Mountains on Lakelandia and the Long Rock Mountains on Calos. The current location of the kingdom is above the Straten Mountains.

Description

Angels are of average height among godkin, standing around five to six feet tall normally. They feature pale, tan skin, similarly to certain races of men. Their hair is usually light in color, with colors like white and blonde being common, although darker colors, such as black and brown, are not unheard of.   Angels are one of two races of godkin which possess wings. Their wings are massive and feathered, having a wingspan around twelve feet or four meters. Angels also feature pointed ears, making them superficially resemble elves, although their ears are not as prominent. Their pointed ears in combination with their wings makes them the race that closest resembles that of Kis' herself, the goddess who gave rise to the angels among other races.   Like some other Kis'-descended godkin, angels feature a natural gift for the use of magic. Many powerful angel mages are able to rival those of elf background.

Culture

The culture of the angels is a very defensive and isolated one. Having lived in Kis' Kingdom for so long has caused them to disconnect with the races below. They don't necessarily believe themselves to be superior to others, but they do believe Kis' Kingdom to be a sacred place only those who are worthy shall enter. Angels rarely participate in war, often opting to move their entire kingdom if necessary, but they are always prepared for it. The military of Kis' Kingdom is seen as one of the most intimidating of all the kingdoms on Maji, having many, highly-trained soldiers and gear made using secretive angelic techniques, making their armor and weapons stronger and more durable than even those made by the Spies.   Angelic architecture is easily recognizable, many regarding it has having incomparable beauty. Many buildings, even homes, consist of interactively carved pillars an stonework, rising high above the streets of their cities. In many ways, the architectural style of the angels is similar to that of ancient Greece. Fountains and parks are commonplace throughout their settlements and angels take pride in keeping their cities clean of waste or weathering.

Religion

Main Article: Angelic Religion   Religion is extremely important within angelic culture. The angels follow the Angelic Religion, which believes Kis' to have long ago reincarnated in the form of an angel. This angel was given the name Straten and served as their unchallenged ruler. Once Straten eventually died, another believed reincarnation of Kis' was found to take his place, being given the same name. Since then, the cycle continues and each time Straten is to die, a new Straten is found to rule the angels. They do not recognize the existence of the other gods and believe Kis', and now Straten, to be the supreme ruler of the Edt' Maji.   Angels who reject their own religion are punished by having their wings sawed off and are permanently banished from Kis' Kingdom. Many angels who suffer this fate eventually die from the shock and infection caused by having their wings removed.
