While they were active, Varahosst's Host was mostly concerned with pursuing personal power as well as advancing Varahosst's goals on the material plane.
Assets
The members of Varahosst's Host are exceptionally wealthy in terms of gold. They also have the largest and most powerful warship ever crafted. In addition, the party members have a number of powerful magical items at their disposal, including multiple artifacts.
History
At the very beginning, the party came together in a tavern and was picked up by a messenger from the King of Drelvik to investigate the cause of earthquakes and tremors that had been rocking the region. The group descended into the Lands Below and were captured by an aboleth's servants. In order to go free, as well as get more information on treasures in the Lands Below, they took up a quest from the aboleth. This led to them being captured by the drow they were supposed to slay. In captivity, they made some allies and gained a new party member. After leaving the drow outpost, they made their way through the Lands Below until they arrived at a strange town divided by a ravine. After talking with the locals, they determined that the way to the source of the earthquakes was nearby. They served as guards for a few days to wait for the tremors to begin once more and in the process gained yet another party member. Once the tremors started up, they made their way to the source. The source of these quakes happened to be a gargantuan mining operation headed by the so-called 'lost' chromatics. After speaking with the leader of these dragons, a great purple wyrm named Gorlanthor, the party decided to take up the plight of these dragons once they broke the surface. Coincidentally, this happened only a few days after the fact, mostly due to the fervor of the kobold miners after hearing about the aid that their masters would receive from the surface. After breaking ground and making a base out of the undead fortress of Gishrak-Ûz, the group wasted no time in beginning to hasten both their goals and those of the dragons. They gathered up the five dragon masks of Varahosst to create the Mask of the Chromatic King and resurrect the dead god himself. They also served as raiders and scouts for the Ironbreakers of Leikskalar and as slave liberators for the orcish warlord Gharthag Bloodbeast. In addition, they also pursued their personal goals. Simon became a lich, Raxtas became immortal, Finn killed the Deepking of the Tritons, Bob ascended to godhood and Xorenath became the greatest hero of the dragonborn to ever live. The party then moved on to their final battles. They took the Mask of the Dragon Queen from Severin and created the Chromatic Mask by combining it with the Mask of the Chromatic King. They defeated Tiamat's army of dragonborn loyalists and great wyrm advisors. Their final act as a party was to destroy Tiamat, though it was revealed after their victory that what they destroyed was merely an avatar of Tiamat and not the goddess herself.
Disbandment
After completing their penultimate combat against Tiamat, the group went their separate ways and retired from the adventuring life.
