Crimper
Crimpers are the names humanity have given to the small Daemon's that snatch up kids, these kinds of Daemon's are small, roughly the height of a human ten year old. What they lack in offensive and defensive capabilities they make up for in their ability to infiltrate society, mesmerize kids, and then take them back to their holdouts either to be processed into other Daemons or for food.
The Crimpers, due to their lack of eyesight, can live anywhere within the world although they prefer to be underground where is dark and damp, this is largely due to how frail their skin is and how easily it can break due to certain environmental factors. An example being that Crimpers can't operate very well in a desert or winter biome, but can operate in a tropical biome.
In order to account for this, some Crimpers spend extra months of evolution adapting themselves to certain biomes so as to operate, but in this turn makes them incompatible with other biomes. These sub-species are known as the Desert and Winter Crimpers.
Within the Daemon , they are more commonly referred to as Ikemans, the Daemon world for gatherer.
Basic Information
Anatomy
This species of Daemon is over 3 meters tall and two meters long, it has two legs, with a third being part of the tail that it can use to walk upon. It has four arms, each arm is prehensile and able to grab or manipulate objects. It's head possess no eyes, no ears, but it does have four mandibles each with fifteen teeth. Some area's of its body are exposed, allowing a person to see some of its skeleton. it can look rather grotesque depending on the environment, with the heart, lungs, and kidneys being in plain sight.
Genetics and Reproduction
The species has two methods of reproduction; the first is via a Crimper Queen which gives birth. This queen can give birth to up to one hundred Crimpers before it dies off, its body used as food for its babies.
However, because Crimpers do not live very long, they require fresh DNA in order to keep their species alive. Because of this, once every couple years they'll hunt for a human to take as one of their own and infect them with a plague that turns them.
Growth Rate & Stages
Upon infect, it takes up to two months for a person to mutate from being a human into a Crimper. During this time, the person will experience untold agony, with loud screams of pain as its flesh is turn asunder.
- In stage one, the person will feel something moving within their body, a parasite, or some kind of organism that gradually overtakes their cells.
- In stage two, the skin begins to break apart, large cuts and bruises with blood starting to ooze outward. The person's ears will begin to fall off, along with its human-like teeth.
- In stage three a slimy substance begins to ooze out of the body, forming a shell around the person as eyes pop out of their skull and are replaced with fresh skin that covers the sockets. During this stage the body goes through a radical change in height; depending on the individual, this stage could take several months.
- The final stage is where the tail and exposed skeleton start to form, along with the four arms that split apart. Once the mutation is completed, the creature breaks from its shell.
Dietary Needs and Habits
This creature requires a constant supply of food, preferably meat, but it can take in other types of food as well. It is not above consuming waste in order to remain alive. After death, its body is consumed by others.
During times when humans are difficult to hunt, which is usually during the winter months; Crimpers will hunt and forage for food within the forests and areas around their hideouts, seeking out animals that have gotten to close or even humans that have strayed to far from the safety of their bulwarks.
Biological Cycle
Over the course of the four years that the creature is alive, it's skin color gradually changes into a more sickly color. It's skin will also shed, creating a kind of slung on the ground that it can use to mark its territory.
If the Crimper is chosen by the Odium Assembly higher leadership then it can be forced to evolve into a Garotter. Otherwise, it'll gradually die off.
